Q: What is Book Chat with Janet Boyer?
A: Book Chat with Janet Boyer is where I interview YOU, asking entertaining and illuminating questions designed to bring out the best in your book and its message or story. You make an appointment with me, I'll set you up to call in via my BlogTalkRadio Show and the interview will begin!
Q: What do you need from me?
A: I'll need a review copy sent to me via snail mail (no digital copies, only ARCs or finished books) before our scheduled show to give me time to read your book, craft relevant questions and promote you and your book. Although not entirely necessary, a headshot and/or book cover image, short bio, website URL and contact information sent to me via email for the benefit of your listeners and readers would increase your reach even further.
Q: When can I schedule a show?
A: Any time! I'm a home-based entrepreneur, and my recording room (affectionately known as the serene Zen Room here at my house!) allows me to interview you any time and at your convenience.
Q: What will I get?
A: You'll get your very own BlogTalkRadio player that will broadcast our interview. You can imbed this right into your site and use it to promote your book any way you'd like--for as long as you'd like! The broadcast will also be downloadable via iTunes, so your readers and fan base can tune in and listen at their convenience. A: No! Infomercials have scripts and put words in the mouth of actors in order to persuade people to buy something. Book Chat with Janet Boyer will have me asking YOU the questions--the type of questions voracious, savvy readers and book junkies like myself are thinking and wondering about...and then going even deeper and wider for an entertaining, irresistible conversation!
Q: How much does it cost?
A: I'm glad you asked! A one-hour interview with me costs the low price of $450.
Q: $450?
A: Yes! Isn't that a bargain? You may not be aware of this, but per their website, Kirkus Discoveries Reviews charges authors $425-$575 for a book review (including already-released books, Self Help titles and independent/self-published works...among others). Yes, you read right: some of those Kirkus Reviews that are used for jacket copy and promotional materials are paid reviews! And, those reviews may not be glowing; in fact, they can even be scathing. Not only that, once they're printed...that's about all you'll get. You have to contact Kirkus for reprint rights. And most readers aren't reading book trade magazines anyway!
Q: Speaking of scathing, you have a reputation as a tough reviewer who doesn't mince words. Will you scare the hell out of me during our interview?
A: LOL! No! Book Chat with Janet Boyer is designed to help my fellow authors get their book, name and brand out there for the world to see (largely because I simply cannot review all the fantastic titles that come across my desk...even though I wish I could clone myself a few times over so I could do so)!
