The Four Types of Indigos
According to Nancy Tappe's interview with Jan Tober in the book The Indigo Children, they are four types of Indigos:

Humanist They will work and serve the masses, often in the capacity of doctors, lawyers, teachers, salesman, businessmen, and politicians. They are hyperactive and extremely social--very friendly and will talk with anyone. However, they do have strong opinions. They may run into things because of their hyperactivity--or because they are lost in thought. Also, they do not know how to play with one toy. They have to bring lots of stuff out, and may or may not play with them. Humanist Indigos are ferocious voracious readers. They're the type that if you tell them to go clean their room, they'll likely get distracted if they see a book; that's how much they love to read.

Conceptual These ones are more interested in projects than people, and will be tomorrow's designers, architects, engineers, astromauts, pilots, etc. They are often athletic and very at home in their bodies. They often have control issues. If they are boys, they'll try to control their mothers. If they are girls, they'll try to control their father. If they get away with it, there's a big problem. This type of Indigo is also prone to addictions, especially drugs in their teenage years. If they start to saying things like "Don't go near my room" or hiding, it may be time to search their room.

Artist They are more sensitive and usually into the arts. Whatever they're into, it will be the creative side of it; they'll likely be teachers and artists. For example, if they go into medicine, they'll likely be surgeons or researchers. Between the ages of 4-10 they may pick up a dozen creative arts to experimenet with. If they're interested in musical intruments, Tappe recommends that you don't buy--rent! In their teenage years, they'll likely pick one field and become the artist in it.

Interdimensional They tend to be larger than the other Indigos and by the ages of 1 or 2, you can't tell them anything. They will say "I know that. I can do it. Leave me alone." These are the ones that will bring new religions and philosophies into the world. They can be bullies because they are so much bigger and because they don't fit in like the other 3 types do.  According to Tappe, all of the physical life colors except for red will be gone in the next 20 years. The Indigo Humanist is replacing the yellow and violet. The Indigo Conceptual is replacing the tan, green and violet. The Indigo Artist is replacing the blue and violet. The Indigo Interdimensional is replacing the violet. So violet energy will be within all four levels of Indigo.
