Healing with the Fairies Oracle Cards - Doreen Virtue
“You might say that the fairies are micro-managers and the angels are macro-managers, as the former are involved in our personal day-to-day matters, while the latter are concerned with more global, worldly matters.” – From the booklet
Healing with the Fairies Oracle Cards is a 44-card deck featuring whimsical artwork and focused themes. Each card is unique, with colorful borders gracing every one. The back of the cards depict fairy wings suspended in the sky, surrounded by sparkling stars, white fluffy clouds, and a vista of blue and violet.
Some of the themes featured in this deck include:
•Happily Ever After
•Kick Up Your Heels
•Trust Your Intuition
•Raising Your Standards
•Honoring Your True Feelings
The 69-page booklet that accompanies the Healing with the Fairies Oracle Cards arranges these themes alphabetically. Card meaning, elaboration on the theme, and an affirmation are included for each card. Dr. Virtue explains how to work with the cards—including shuffling, selecting, phrasing questions, and performing layouts. An interesting element to this guidebook is that it addresses reversals and working with multiple decks—including a how-to for interpreting a multi-deck spread.
I’ve received solid messages from this deck and most of the illustrations are quite lovely. However, a few cards are very dark — black backgrounds with barely-there gossamer fairies in the background. This brooding color scheme doesn’t go well with the “lighten up” purposes of fairies in my opinion, and the cards that show this coloration are (of all things!) “Positive Expectations” and “Parenting and Children”. They seem very out of place in this deck—enough to affect the experience. And the Beauty card? It looks like a female version of Marilyn Manson combing her long, straight black tresses as they cascade over her white body. Ugh.
