Hi Janet, I have been reading your book Back in Time Tarot. At first I thought I wasn't going to like the concept. I'm not sure why, maybe I was having an off day. But I continued to read and tried out the idea. Very interesting indeed, I thought. I had been teaching a Tarot class at my son's house...[The class] had grown from 6 to 10 people and I had some who had never taken my class before. I decided my best approach was to teach your BIT Method. It was great fun. Even the students who had no previous experience did very well. I have many many tarot books, probably not as many as you(!), and your BIT book stands above them all, imo. I know I keep on about it, but what is it... the personal factor or your great writing or your insights and freedom with it? Probably all of them. I studied with BOTA for several years and must admit that since leaving them a couple of years ago that I found myself hemmed in a little with what Tarot was and what could be done with it. I think therefore that your book presented some keys of liberation in my perception of Tarot...I can remember thinking whilst reading your BIT book that if only you taught a Tarot class then I'd be sure to subscribe. I love reading reviews by Janet Boyer because you can tell exactly her orientation to things. When she likes something: a book, CD, card deck, she tells you what she was hoping for and what she got after she read the book or used the cards. Her writing is not bland and generic, but in fact very specific. This helps me when I am thinking of a purchase, because if I'm looking for accuracy and ease of use with a card deck, and that's what Janet wrote about, then my satisfaction is likely to be similar to hers. Or if she praises the Gothic illustrations and that's not my art preference, I can skip it. I have a pretty good idea if I might like the thing, based on what she's written. I also adore Janet's personality, which shines through all of her writing. She reminds me of a smart and funny, kind-hearted, and opinionated girlfriend, who is just "chatting it up" in a very astute manner.
